Established in the 1930s
Perched on spectacular Summerville Beach, over a kilometer and a half of pristine white sand, the Quarterdeck has been a popular travel destination for more than 85 years. Centrally located on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, the Quarterdeck is just 1.5 hours from Halifax, Yarmouth and Annapolis Royal.
For nearly a century, the Quarterdeck has been evolving. From its origins as a roadside canteen serving hot dogs to earning the reputation as the South Shore’s foremost destination for authentic maritime hospitality and fresh, inspired Nova Scotian cuisine. As a Taste of Nova Scotia member, our Grill is focused on serving up traditional flavours and new favorites with an eye on sustainability and local sourcing.

Our Amenities
The Quarterdeck Resort offers a diverse selection of 69 guest accommodations, ranging from cozy studios and spacious three-bedroom suites to a private guest house—each thoughtfully designed to suit a variety of guest needs and preferences.
Among these, 22 beachfront rooms provide direct access to the sandy shoreline, while others offer sweeping ocean views. Just steps from the beach, you’ll find our Beach Villas, inviting Shoreline Rooms, and a large Three-Bedroom Suite—perfect for a relaxing seaside escape. Perched on the hillside, our modern Lofts overlook Summerville Beach Provincial Park, offering stunning panoramic vistas.
Guests can unwind at the Recreation Centre, which features a small indoor pool, fitness room, sauna, 17-seat theatre, and a games lounge. During the warmer months, the outdoor pool and sun deck—located just behind the Recreation Centre—provide the perfect spot for soaking up the sun.
For those traveling with pets, our Hilltop and Seawood rooms are pet-friendly and located hillside. Select accommodations also feature the added luxury of private hot tubs on the deck. Each Executive Suite includes a private hot tub on the outdoor patio, and some also offer a convenient kitchenette.
Opened in 2023, the Champlain Centre is a stunning venue space offering expansive views and abundant natural light. With a large patio and capacity for up to 100 guests, it’s ideal for weddings, celebrations, or corporate events. A spacious outdoor lawn adds charm and provides the perfect backdrop for unforgettable photos.
New additions to the resort’s amenities include a community fire pit and three professionally surfaced pickleball courts, available in season, exclusively for guest use.
Beginning in 2025, guests can book our multi-bedroom Guest House, which accommodates up to 10 people. Designed for comfort and convenience, it’s the perfect choice for extended stays, family vacations, or gatherings with friends—making your longer retreat easy and worry-free.
